You ever wonder...
if a mind can be returned to its owner?
Not distracted.
Not medicated.
Not entertained until it forgets the questions.
I mean...
returned.
Because there is a difference
between changing your opinion
and discovering you never owned the one you were given.
People ask,
"Can someone really break free?"
I don't answer with theory.
I answer with scars.
I am not talking about watching too many videos
until your attention span fractures.
I'm talking about something quieter.
The kind of influence
that convinces you to police your own thoughts.
The kind that teaches you
which emotions are acceptable,
which questions are dangerous,
which parts of yourself deserve exile.
The cage doesn't always have bars.
Sometimes...
it has applause.
Sometimes...
it wears a smile.
Sometimes...
it calls itself family.
Sometimes...
it calls itself salvation.
You stop asking,
"What is true?"
And start asking,
"What keeps everyone happy?"
That...
is where pieces of you begin disappearing.
One by one.
Until one day
you wake up speaking with your own voice...
and it sounds like someone else's.
That realization is horrifying.
Because if someone can teach you
to distrust your own instincts,
they don't have to lock the door.
You'll do it for them.
Breaking free wasn't dramatic.
There wasn't a soundtrack.
No lightning.
No applause.
Just thousands of tiny rebellions.
Learning to sit with silence
without someone explaining what it meant.
Learning that guilt
isn't always proof you're wrong.
Learning that fear
isn't always a warning.
Sometimes...
it's just the alarm system
of the prison you're leaving.
I lost people.
Versions of myself.
Entire futures
that were built on foundations
I didn't choose.
Freedom has a cost.
But captivity
charges interest forever.
People ask me why I keep talking.
Because someone else
is sitting where I once sat.
Wondering why their thoughts don't feel like their own.
Wondering why questioning feels like betrayal.
Wondering why love always seems conditional.
If that's you...
start small.
Question one thing.
Then another.
Truth doesn't panic
when you investigate it.
Only control does.
I am still walking my way out.
Freedom is not always a single door.
Sometimes...
it's a thousand locks
opened one honest thought at a time.
So if I never make it
to the place I imagined—
if my voice reaches farther
than my footsteps—
then let this become my blueprint.
Not because my journey
is the only path.
But because somewhere...
someone deserves to know
that the human mind
can remember itself.
And once it does...
no cage ever feels
quite the same again.
