**Do Not Mistake My Silence**
3 min read
You celebrate my silence — like a gambler celebrating
You celebrate my silence
like a gambler celebrating
the barrel that never fired.
You never stop to wonder
whether the trigger
was simply never pulled.
There was a version of me
that would have answered
every curse with a darker echo,
every stone with a mountain,
every whispered hex
with a silence so complete
even your own nightmares
would forget your names.
That man is gone.
Not because he was weak.
Because he finally learned
that power without purpose
is nothing more
than another prison.
I do not kneel
to vengeance.
I answer
to Source.
So while you exhaust yourselves
drawing circles in the dust,
feeding your fear,
calling upon whatever darkness
makes you feel important,
I remain still—
not because I cannot move,
but because I refuse
to spend eternity
proving a point
to people
already at war with themselves.
You keep mistaking restraint
for inability.
That is the oldest mistake
pride has ever made.
Every day
you push a little harder,
certain the quiet man
must eventually break.
Yet what if
the quiet was never surrender?
What if it was mercy...
extended far longer
than wisdom required?
You think you are testing me.
You are testing
the very principles
I have chosen to stand beneath.
And every choice
writes another line
in a story
you insist
someone else is authoring.
Then you ask
why peace avoids you.
Why sleep escapes you.
Why every victory
rots in your hands
before you can enjoy it.
Perhaps the question
was never,
"Who is against me?"
Perhaps it has always been,
"What part of myself
keeps declaring war
against what is good?"
I have no desire
to become
the monster
your fear keeps praying for.
That would be easy.
Anyone can become
what hatred expects.
The miracle
is refusing to.
So I leave judgment
where it belongs.
I leave consequences
to the hands
that fashioned consequence itself.
And I walk away.
Not because I fear
what I could become—
but because I finally know
exactly what I refuse to be.
Pray that your own reflection
teaches you that lesson
before life does.
Life rarely whispers.
It prefers
to let the echo
finish the conversation.
