poem

**Written in the Current**

3 min read

There are wishes we make — because we are lonely,

There are wishes we make
because we are lonely,
and there are wishes
that seem to remember us.
I have come to believe
there is a difference.
Some desires arrive softly,
without demand or desperation.
They enter the mind like a distant star
and remain there—
not screaming to be believed,
only waiting to be recognized.
I called it wishful thinking once.
Perhaps I was wrong.
Perhaps some thoughts are seeds
placed quietly in the soil of destiny,
and the miracle is not that we make them grow,
but that something beneath the earth
was already moving toward them.
Since the eighth of August,
something in my life has changed.
Not with the violence of thunder.
Not with the spectacle of prophecy fulfilled
before an astonished crowd.
No.
It came more mysteriously than that.
A door shifted.
A current changed.
The things I had carried in thought
began appearing in the architecture of my life.
And I stood there wondering
whether I had manifested them
or whether I had simply become still enough
to notice what was already coming.
Perhaps destiny does not always announce itself.
Perhaps it moves like gravity.
Invisible.
Patient.
Certain.
Pulling distant things toward one another
until what seemed impossible
becomes inevitable.
This is the beauty
of passive wishing:
to desire without chains,
to dream without demanding the hour,
to speak a thing into the silence
and then release it.
Not because you have stopped believing—
but because you trust
that what belongs to you
does not require desperation
to find its way home.
I did not chase the future.
I imagined it.
I gave it a place within me.
And somewhere between thought and surrender,
something began moving.
Energy became motion.
Motion became circumstance.
Circumstance became change.
And change became evidence
that the life I had been quietly imagining
was no longer entirely imaginary.
Since August eighth,
I have watched the boundary disappear
between what I hoped for
and what began to happen.
That is the part that humbles me.
Because perhaps manifestation
was never about commanding the universe.
Perhaps it was about becoming
the kind of vessel
through which destiny could move.
Perhaps the wish was not the spell.
Perhaps **I was.**
And perhaps the most beautiful thing
about destiny
is that it does not always feel
like something arriving.
Sometimes—
it feels like something
finally remembering
where it was always meant to go.
